I’m a Cinematographer dedicated to diverse representation, detail-oriented visuals, and unique storytelling for a greater understanding of us and humanity.

My name is Catalina Parra, I am a Director of Photography based in the Los Angeles area; originally from Houston, Texas and even more originally from a culturally mixed Asian and Hispanic immigrant family.

As a DP, I focus on visual storytelling, through carefully crafted camera composition and authentic lighting plans, on numerous narrative short films, documentaries, music videos and commercials. I now own a Videography Business , Catalina Parra Films, INC., to work 1-1 with clients for their promotion and social media video materials

In 2019, I received my Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Chicago studying the relationship between philosophy and visual arts. I graduated in 2022 with the my MFA at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.

At USC, I was rewarded the USC Annenberg Graduate Fellowship from the Cinematography Department. Throughout my career, my films have been selected as Best Documentary in Film One Fest and Texas Gulf Film Festival. Short films I’ve been apart of have won at the Student DGA awards, Santa Diego Film Festival, Disorient Film Fest and Santa Barbara Film Fest. I aspire to be a leading Woman of Color in the industry.  I am also a member of the Chicana Directors’ Initiative and Women of Color Unite (WOCU). During my education at USC, interned in the Media and Production for the USC Shoah Foundation, dedicated to preserving interviews and testimony of genocide survivors.
